No Holds Barred July 2003
This past week NHB had the pleasure to catch up with former WWE superstar Jeff Hardy. The interview was conducted following the Ring of Honor show on Saturday night in Elizabeth, NJ. We'd like to thank the folks at ROH for putting on an outstanding show and for conducting themselves professionally behind the scenes as well. As we tell you each and every week, our goal is to bring you the biggest names in the wrestling business and if you'd like to hear the show in your area, we ask you to show your support by logging on to www.noholdsbarredwrestling.com and filling out our petition on the main page and e-mailing it to nhbfeedback@yahoo.com. Now on to the highlights from our interview with Jeff Hardy.

Jeff started by saying that his appearance with Ring of Honor was a one time deal but he really enjoyed it. He said he first became aware of the group while watching a video inside a limousine with his brother Matt while they were on their book tour. He said he remembered really enjoying the product and felt that if he ever got released by the WWE that ROH would be a place he'd like to work at.

He said he loved being able to come out with the Willow The Wisp mask and said he always enjoyed doing it on Independent shows in the past. He said he wasn't phased when the crowd booed him during his match and said that it wasn't as bad because there were a lot of girls screaming their heads off popping for him. He said he decided to use it to his advantage by shouting 4 times during his match at the male dominant crowd "You Paid To See Me" but he added that he was surprised to an extent because most of the crowd were former ECW fans who appreciate the risks taken inside the ring and based on who he is and what he's done he felt he would have been given more respect then that. He closed the statement by saying the fans have a right to boo him and it's no big deal because some people are idiots and you can't change that.

Jeff said his emphasis right now is to continue working on his music and he says he plans to spend a lot of time working on it over the next 2 months. He mentioned that it's been nice not having to fly out for shows every single week and that he's had a lot of time to relax and re-do his motocross track. He said he does miss being in the ring and always will and eventually will probably find his passion and love for the business again but right now it's time to concentrate on other things.

He talked about the release of his first song titled "Home" which is on the Omega website. He said the site is a small site but it has been getting a lot of reaction since they put it online. He said he hopes to make more material available over the next few months.

He said that he still follows the WWE program but he doesn't watch RAW that often because the last time he watched it he felt it was ridiculous. He felt that Smackdown on the other hand has produced some great shows and he feels it is the superior product right now. He said he's also glad to see his brother is getting over and doing really well as a hell on the program.

He said the WWE schedule is very grueling and it's easy to get burned out by it. He said his dream was to wrestle for the WWE and it still is. He said there have been times where he's almost broke down and cried from not being able to be a part of it. He said he enjoys being able to be home but he also has been missing it really bad because he spent a lot of time and worked really hard to get there and he gave it up. He noted that he was arriving late for shows and at that point he really didn't care and he needed to be released in order for him to realize how much he loved it. He said as much as he loves wrestling though he also loves music and says there's no better feeling then when writing a song and watching it do well.

He said his timetable for a return to the WWE will have a lot to do with how his music career does. He said he definitely envisions returning down the road but isn't sure when that will be but when he does he feels it will be awesome because in his estimation comebacks are always great and he hopes to make his one of the biggest of all time.

Jeff also informed us that since being released by the WWE he is shut off from receiving royalties from his book sales. He added that it really sucks having things go that way because he did a lot to promote the book and feels that he should be entitled to his fair share. He joked that he may have to kiss Matt's rear end in order to receive some extra cut from book sales.

Jeff ended the interview talking about his future plans with regards to working on the independent scene. He said that he plans to do 1 more show on the west coast because he's already committed to it but after that he plans to stay away from the ring for a bit.

Jeff Interview in Revolver Magazine
In the June edition of REVOLVER magazine, they sat down with three of sports entertainment's biggest stars- Chris Jericho, Jeff Hardy and HHH- to talk about their favorite music.
In the section where they talk to Jeff, they have his promo pic, his stats, a small intro about Jeff and then the Q&A.

Jeff Hardy
height: 6'2"
weight: 215 lbs
hometown: Cameron, NC
finishing move: Swanton Bomb

Jeff Hardy is known for his extreme performances in TLC matches- thats Tables, Ladders and Chairs"- where in wrestlers attempt to redecorate the ring using their opponents' spines and skulls.

Who are your favorite rock bands?
I am a huge fan of Peal Jam, especially their first album, Ten. Also Stone Temple Pilots and Alice in Chains. I remember being with my brother at a Pearl Jam concert when we were little and just being blown away- it was so powerful, the way everyone was just into the music and the crowd was going wild. That intensity is one of the things I like about wrestling.

You're a musician, right?
Yeah. I sing in a rock band with a bunch of friends. We try to get together whenever I'm off the road.

Is it tough getting a band off the ground while having a career as a professional wrestler?
It is, but the guys understand what i do and know that this is my job. It's funny- they used to wonder why I couldn't just do a match and then rush off and do a show right afterwards. But its pretty hard to do a performance when you can barely stand up and you're bleeding out of your head.

Jeff No Holds Barred Interview
This week, Jeff Hardy joined the No Holds Barred radio show and here are the highlights.

Jeff put over the Hardy Boys' new book and said it contains a lot of emotion. It is the story of the Hardy Boys following their dream of becoming WWE superstars since Wrestlemania 4.

Jeff talked of his love for music and his passion for freestyle motorcross. He called doing both in his free time great stress relief. He wants his fans to stick with him even though he has other interests besides wrestling.

Jeff said he is very focused on his singles career and he feels he can be more himself. He loved working with Shawn Michaels and he hopes after Wrestlemania, the two can continue to work together. He called HBK a huge role model and he said many in the company want to see more of Jeff Hardy and Shawn Michaels.

He called the TLC matches with the Dudley Boys, Edge and Christian a workshop of memories. He said he never gets tired of watching those matches. He mentioned all three teams always wanted the next match to be better than the last one. He said his body never took such a beating and after those matches, he had a hard time getting out of bed.

Jeff loves being on Raw because he feels it can get more crazy than Smackdown. He joked he changes his look all the time because it creates more Jeff Hardy action figures.

He said his career highlights as a singles wrestler were winning the intercontinental title and his match with the Undertaker.

When asked if he had a choice of being a part of the best selling rock band or WWE champion, which would he choose, he said he would be a part of the best selling rock band. Although, Jeff did say he would not leave the wrestling business until he becomes a world champion.

Jeff In Wonderland
(Aug 23) Talk about your extreme rides.

WWE Superstar Jeff Hardy gave hundreds of Toronto-area fans, some of whom had lined up as early as 5 a.m., more than their usual share of thrills with a guest appearance at Paramount Canada's Wonderland on Thursday. The former member of Team Extreme took questions from a rain-soaked but enthusiastic crowd for nearly 90 minutes, then followed the Q&A session by mounting the theme park's newest ride, Psyclone, along with 6 lucky fans whose names were drawn from a large drum.

Hardy, whose brother Matt ended their long-time partnership in the ring 2 weeks ago on Raw, insisted the split is only temporary.

"I'm looking forward to at least one more TLC match with Matt.. and another run as tag team champions."

As for the other member of Team Extreme, Hardy said Lita should be back in 6-7 months, following her recovery from neck surgery.

In between screams from the mostly young, mostly female audience of, "We love you, Jeff," and, "Take it off," (he did, at least his shirt) Hardy did manage to answer a multitude of questions ranging from the predictable ("how do you get into wrestling?") to the outrageous ("boxers or briefs?").

The North Carolina native revealed that he and brother Matt began liking wrestling almost 15 years ago, after watching the Randy Savage win a grueling tournament for the WWF title at WrestleMania IV. However, he said his style is patterned after Shawn Michaels and somewhat surprisingly, the Ultimate Warrior.

"I loved his energy when he came to the ring, shaking those ropes."

Hardy, who's held just about every belt in the WWE except for the undisputed title, said his favorite person to work with in the ring was the late Owen Hart "even to this day.. although that was a long time ago, when we were still wearing spandex."

Asked for his most embarrassing moment, it came while playing basketball in 7th grade. Hardy made a "sweet lay-up" into his own basket.

And showing there's more to him than just Swanton Bombs, Jeff exhibited his musical talents for the crowd by singing a couple of songs, Fortunately for WWE fans, he'll be keeping his day job

More Wonderland Gossip

Q & A Session from Canada's Wonderland

By Mary-Beth O'Hara

The show was supposed to start at 1 pm, so I got there at 12 noon, to get some okay seats. The outdoor "theatre" (International Showplace for those who know Wonderland) was already almost 1/4 full. Since the Q&A was sponsored by KISS 92 (A Toronto Pop Music Radio Station) I figured there would be all sorts of promo shite before the Q&A, but mercifully there wasn't. Then around 1:10pm, I looked at my watch and noticed that it hasn't started yet. I had heard people saying things like "Jeff missed his plane" and "the show's not until 2:30" and I thought that they were just trying to make people leave, so that they could snag the seats.

As it turned out, Jeff actually did miss his plane ... So the Q&A didn't start until 3 pm and went until 4:30 (instead of two 45-minute sessions, one 90-miute session, which suited me fine.

Just before 3 pm, someone saw Jeff enter the staging area, so everyone got up on the benches, leaving the poor Wonderland staff to try and get them to not stand on the benches.

The show started precisely at 3pm with some promotional shite for KISS 92 and for Summer Slam. The Q&A was hosted by some DJ I've never heard of, as I don't listen to KISS 92. The DJ tried to get everyone on one side of the audience to chant "THE ROCK" and the other side "VERSUS BROCK". Nobody wanted to do this, so people just chanted "We want Jeff" or "HARDY, HARDY!"

Finally... Jeff is introduced. His music started and he made his way onstage, wearing black boots with a slight heel (trying to make himself look as tall as the WWE says he is ... ?), 3/4 length green camo pants, white baseball t-shirt (long-sleeved) with black sleeves and an orange baseball cap. There was a huge pop. Lots of foolish fan girls screaming (sadly, including myself, damn that mob mentality!) for almost 3 minutes!

Once the screaming stopped there was a stupid interview with the KISS 92 DJ. In the interview, Jeff basically towed the company line the whole time. Saying that he and Matt are still brothers... promoted Matt on SmackDown! (This is coming to Toronto October 15, BTW). Then Jeff talked about his hair, saying he has been teased by some other wrestlers about it: Bradshaw recently said "Hey, Jeff, why don't you dye your hair ... oh, I don't know, Brown?" Jeff also slipped up and said "WWF ... [big pause] E" The DJ asked Jeff about Peroxwhy?gen, and Jeff said that it's a little bit of everything. Then he offered to sing a bit, to which everyone started cheering/screaming. Then Jeff beat boxed a bit, he's so funny. He got up started singing "It's getting hot in here/so take off all your clothes", then stopped, laughed, and started singing the first verse of "September Day" the words were difficult to catch, though', too much cheering. Then he sang another, faster song, which I missed the title of.

There was a chant of "Take it off", to which Jeff replied by wiggling his hips like an exotic dancer.

Jeff admitted that he's not very 'Net literate, but he's getting there. Learning about e-mails, etc.

The DJ mentioned that one of Jeff's sketches was selling on eBay for ; it's probably higher now... Then Jeff talked about his artistic side, including his body art (the drawing on his arm every show and the face paint). The face stuff is acrylic paint, and he said it makes a big mess, and it peels everywhere.

AND NOW, the part everyone's been waiting for, the questions from the fans :
Note : Answers in quotation marks (" ...") are (almost) direct quotes of what Jeff said. The answers not in quotes are my summations (meaning, someone borrowed my pen to fill out the "Win a Rollercoaster Ride with Jeff Hardy" ballot) of the answers. Thing in parentheses like these {...} are my personal input, and opinions.

Q: How did it feel when Matt did the Twist of Fate on you?
A: It hurt, emotionally. Jeff thought about the good ol' days, and missed them.

Q: When's Lita coming back?
A: "Probably in six or seven months, that's when the doctors say she'll be able to wrestle again."

Q: What does it feel like to perform a Swanton Bomb from the top of a ladder?
A: "It's a pure rush! And painful, too. The first time I did it I was supposed to do it from the second-to-top rung, to be safe, but that's not my style. So I did it from the top, and broke my tailbone."

Then Jeff and the DJ talked about Jeff's other "Xtreme" habit: motocross.
Then Jeff and the DJ talked about pressures of travelling, being on the road, etc. Jeff said that he deals with the pressures of work by digging big holes in his yard (not kidding!) with a backhoe and making dirt sculpture thingies.

Q: Two girls from the new WWE Niagara Falls invited Jeff to come visit it.
A: "Okay, I've always loved Niagara Falls, it's so awesome."

Cries of "We love you, Jeff!' from fan girls in the audience, and Jeff replied in a deep, amusing voice "Love you, too."

Q: Why did you decide to become a WWE Superstar?
A: "I saw Wrestlemania IV, and I thought that the Macho Man was so cool and I wanted to do what he did."

Q: How many tattoos do you have?
A: "Two (for now), the one on my leg {someone swiped my pen as he described and explained it} and the one on my arm. It's a tiger, with a wave above it and the Japanese character for health, not good health or bad health, just health."

Q: Do you think you and Matt will ever get back together as a tag team?
A: "Yeah, we're brothers."

Q: How did it feel to earn The Undertaker's respect?
A: "Awesome. Here's a man I watched wrestle when I was a teenager, and looked up to, and here I am saying 'I'm still standing, come back and fight me!'"

Q: What was your most embarrassing moment?
A: Playing basketball in seventh grade, actually got to play in a game (normally 3rd string), and made a sweet shot ... it went in! ... The WRONG NET!!!!!!!

Q: What are your future goals?
A: "I want to see where Perowhy? gen goes, and take it from there."

Q: (from the DJ) How about those sideburns? Are they easy to do?
A: "No way, I take hours looking in the mirror, making sure they look right, or else I have to shave them off entirely."

Q: Boxers or briefs? {From rabid, screaming fan girls, no big surprise}
A: "Boxers, bikini briefs, and ... thongs" {I've heard the thong rumour before ... and he sounded serious, too. We also got to see his underwear, sorta. He pulled the back to hang out like Lita's thongs, and then pulled the front up a bit. He was wearing medium blue bikini briefs with dark blue diagonal stripes.}

Q: What is your favourite wrestler's entrance?
A: "The Ultimate Warrior and Sting, they had such cool entrances."

Q: How do you become a pro wrestler?
A: "Do you guys have any wrestling training schools up here?" {To which, a fan shouted "Sully's Gym", but Jeff didn't hear. Then he promoted "Tough Enough".

Q: Who do you think is going to win at Summer Slam? Brock or Rock?
A: "The Rock. But Brock is so awesomely strong and powerful, he'll probably put up a good fight."

Q: What was your favourite title to hold?
A: "The Intercontinental Title"

Q: What are your thoughts on the direction of the WWE now that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin is gone?
A: {Somebody scoffed my pen again -- Jeff towed the company line, praising Vince McMahon, saying that they needed to "step it up" in intensity.}

Q: If you weren't a wrestler what would you do?
A: Landscaping.

Q: What was it like to be hit on by Trish Stratus?
A: "Awesome! She's so hot! In the gym where I work out there are all of her fitness magazine covers, and before she joined the company I used to stare at those pictures and think "She's so hot!" "Then he said something about being able to taste her ....

The DJ talked about Jeff's nail polish (Jeff was ashamed that it was so chipped). Jeff admitted to painting his toenails at least once. And having that fact discovered, while going through airport security.

Q: What's your favourite food?
A: "Lasagne, or anything Italian."

Q: Do you have any bad habits?
A: "Umm... yeah. Running late {today being case in point}, as you all know (laughter from crowd). I was a little late leaving home this morning, and then ran into traffic ..."

Q: What is your favourite match of all time?
A: "The Tables, Ladders and Chairs match from Raleigh, NC. I think that was TLC 2."

Q: Who do you think is a better tag team, Edge and Christian or the Dudley Boyz?
A: "The Dudleyz. I think Edge and Christian are better doing their separate things." Then Jeff did a Bubba Dudley impersonation: "D-Von, get the table!" {Pretty good impression, too!}

Q: At Summer Slam, who do you think is going to win, Triple H or Shawn Michaels?
A: Jeff started singing Shawn Michaels' theme song "Sexy Boy". "Shawn Michaels"

Q: If you could wrestle anyone in the WWE, past or present, who would it be?
A: "Hulk Hogan, because he's a legend."

Q: If you were any flavour of ice cream what flavour would you be?
A: *Jeff looks at his blue and purplish hair* "Looking at my hair I'd have to say ... bubble gum."

Q: What were your feelings on Eric Bischoff joining the company?
A: "It totally blew my mind. The first time I saw him backstage I went to go see if he had a backstage pass, then I realised who he was ..."

KISS 92 DJ announced that SmackDown! is coming back to Toronto on October 15.

Q: Is wrestling hard to learn? {From a li'l kid}
A:A: "Yeah, it's hard. I'm lucky I was such a fast learner." {Then he went on to promote "Tough Enough," again.}

Q: If you could be anyone else, who would you be?
A: "Superman, or anyone who could fly."

Q: How does it feel to be a sexy WWE Superstar?
A: "It's great! I love all the screaming that the girls do. When guy fans cheer, it's this low sound, but the high-pitched girl sound is so cool." {Cue more fan girl screaming}

Q: Are you single?
A: "I don't know, am I?"

Q: How do you react to girls following you to your hotel room?
A: {Some long story about girls finding out his dad's home address in Cameron, NC on the internet. Something about Dad telling the attractive girls that he's a Hardy boy, too (ha ha ha). Somebody swiped my pen again, so it's not word for word ... He also mentioned something about using fake names at hotels.}

Q: What's your favourite vacation hotspot?
A: "Ummm.... Toronto? I love the West Coast ... wait I guess we're on the East Coast ... I don't even know where I am half the time anymore. But for HOT, hotspots, I like Miami Beach. But, like Dorothy said: 'There's no place like home.' "

Q: Where do you get your clothes?
A: "I get them at Hot Topic; do y'all have Hot Topic up here? And Gadzooks, I love Gadzooks! I get my Special Effects hair dye there."

Q: Where did you learn your style?
A: {Jeff was inspired by Shawn Michaels, and the lucha libres.} "I'm a huge Rey Mysterio, Jr. fan."

THE KISS 92 DJ asked why Jeff cut his hair. Jeff said the ends were really split, and he wanted to even all out to the same length.

Q: How are you going to evolve your Jeff Hardy character, now that Matt is on SmackDown!?
A: "Weird is my perfect description, so I'm just gonna keep doing what I'm doing."
The KISS 92 DJ compared Jeff's weirdness to that of Mankind. Jeff said that Mankind's weird was kind of evil, and Jeff's not evil.

Q: Where'd the middle name Nero come from?
A: {rambled about Nero being such a weird name and being teased about it} "Nero, my hero! Actually, my uncle's first name is Nero."

Q: Who is your favourite wrestler to work with?
A: "Matt and Amy ... Lita. And Owen Hart {BIG POP}, even though back then I was a nobody, still wearing the spandex tights {loud screams}, he was so professional."

The KISS 92 DJ asked if there were movies in Jeff's future.
Jeff said only the home-made ones he, Matt and Shannon made in their indy days. He wished he had time to make more of those.

From the KISS 92 DJ: Could you do a love scene?
A: "Yeah. Like in a soap opera, for sure." {Big screams from soap fans... like me}

Q: What does you hand sign mean?
A: "It from a character in my indy days, he was kinda crazy, suicidal. It kinda means that we kill ourselves every night for you the fans. ... I don't know.... It's hard to explain. It just looks cool."

Q: What are your favourite charities?
A: Windows of Hope {I think it's a 9/11 charity. The one that he played for on Fear Factor}

Q: Who's your favourite actor?
A: "Right now, it's Jack Black {cheers from audience}. I first saw him in Shallow Hal, then recently in Orange County. He's funny and he looks funny in his underpants."

Q: If you were trapped on a desert island, what would you bring?
A: "A woman!"

Q: What does it feel like going through a table?
A: "It hurts, especially during this one match with RVD on SmackDown! I hit the table more vertically than ... the other way. The table ripped up my back, and hurt more than the fall."

Q: Do you have a wrestling ring at home?
A: "Not anymore. Matt's got one at his place, though."

Q: Do you have any pets?
A: "Yup, a prairie dog, named Witty. A boxer named Liger and a South African raccoon. {I missed the name}"
Jeff said that he was scared of snakes, but thinks that their designs are cool.

The KISS 92 DJ asked if Jeff did any impersonations. Jeff said that he "might could" {I love that phrase, might could}. Jeff did a Hurricane impression: "What's up wit dat?" {Pretty good, too} Then some teenaged boy in the audience was invited onstage to do some impressions, of the Rock, and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. He was pretty good, but wasted our Jeff Q&A time!

There were calls from the audience of "Take off your shirt!" Finally, Jeff obliged. Then he did some push-ups on the stage to lots of cheers and adoring fan girls screaming.

From the KISS 92 DJ: What Xtreme thing will you do next?
A: "Probably more motocross stunts".

Then they drew the winners for the chance to ride Psyclone with Jeff Hardy. Jeff hummed the "Jeopardy" theme song while drawing the winners. Jeff also wanted more people to go on the ride, he wanted to draw more names, and the Wonderland and WWE people said that he could. So he drew two more names. I didn't win. =(

Jeff on Confidential
The theme of tonight's Confidential was Summerslam. They showed a segment on Summerslam 2000's TLC. They had some never-before shown comments from all 3 teams. It's kinda sad to know that none of them are together anymore, but it was a nice trip down memory lane. Here is what Matt and Jeff had to say about it all:

Thoughts before the match

Matt: Our goal all in all was to go out and steal the show
Jeff: Just like bodies of curious nerves or something before you go out.

About when Jeff did the Swanton off the ladder and Bubba moved before he hit

Matt: We really don't have time to be afraid.

Jeff: I don't know what's going on. I didn't know he had moved.

Man, that's some impact jumping off. I hit the floor hard as hell and just laid there.

About Matt going through the table after tipping off with the ladder

Matt: Actually this is kind of scary to say but I was so fired up with the adrenalin that it didn't bother me that bad.

You have your heart and soul to entertain that crowd and you hear that crowd give everything back from their heart and soul, cheering you on or booing you or whatever it may be. The energy that you can get back from them, you just feed off of it...It can make you do things that you don't even realize you can do....and the things that your're doing...it (the crowd) makes you do it that much better.
Jeff: It was creepy. I would've done it you know, but would've been a little scared.

About Jeff and D-Von hanging from the belts

Matt: D-Von is scared of hights and as high as he was hanging, you know...20 feet up or whatever it was...that might've been the most spectacular part of the match.

Jeff: When me and D-Von Dudley where left up on the ring just hanging...the crowd response was so powerful.
After the match
Matt: Our peers where clapping and shaking our hands, and hugging us and.....It was just that really warm feeling to let you know that you did something special.
Final thoughts
Matt: I've watched the match about probably...probably 30 times. I'm astounded that everything went smoothly and nothing really got messed up, or nothing went wrong....considering once again that we were working with ladders, tables and chairs.
Jeff: One of my most favorite things to do is going back and just watching all the stuff in slow motion, especially the big bumps. And the view from the top again, just totally adds to the matches.

Matt: It was the first and original, and I think it's pretty special...something that could never be replicated.

Matt: My one word to describe this match...I would say 'breakthrough'.
Jeff: I use this word way too much but I'm gonna say...'beautiful'.

They also had a segment on superstars' first jobs. Jeff said his first job was working for Goodyear Tires, and one of Matt's first jobs was working at a car wash.

Hitting a High Note
Published August 1, 2002

Jeff Hardy is hitting a high note - in more ways than one.

Not only has he enjoyed a resurgence in World Wrestling Entertainment, Hardy is close to finishing the first release of his rock band Peroxwhygen. That musical project, which also features WWE newcomer Shannon Moore on backing vocals, is one of the reasons Hardy took a brief hiatus from touring on live WWE events earlier this summer.
"At one time, the schedule was driving me nuts," said Hardy, who is Peroxwhygen's lead vocalist. "I spoke to (WWE management) about it and finally said I wanted to try to do something with my music. I worked a schedule where I was just doing TV with no road shows. I was off for a month.
"It's kind of strange that when I had the most time off that I would be on TV and having the most things happening."
After stringing together three years of excellent tag-team matches with his brother Matt, Jeff Hardy's wrestling career seemed on a downward spiral in 2001 because of injuries and a lack of quality storylines. A prime example was an attempted brother-versus-brother feud that also involved Matt Hardy's real-life girlfriend Lita, which was scrapped after a negative reaction from fans.
"Nobody wants to see us fight," said Jeff Hardy, who is teaming with his brother once again on non-televised WWE shows. "We had a real good thing going because it was real. That's a big part of it. I'm glad to see us working everything thing out (in WWE storylines). It's great because we haven't broken up and can still do the tag-team thing."
With Lita out of action until next year following neck surgery, Matt Hardy doesn't have a prominent role on WWE programming. But her absence has given Jeff Hardy the chance to shine as a singles performer.
Although he lost a series of matches against The Undertaker several months ago, Hardy began to gain momentum as an edgy underdog. Since then, Hardy has won two WWE singles titles and is a fixture on the promotion's weekly Monday Night Raw telecasts on TNN.
Hardy, whose interview time has been almost non-existent since joining WWE in 1998, said the decision to make his character more outlandish was approved after promotion owner Vince McMahon listened to a goofy greeting on his voice mail.
"I come across more like how I am naturally," said Hardy, who has added body paint to his ring attire. "I get to show a little more of myself with all the weird stuff. It came about from the way I really am backstage. One thing people say about me is how I am one of the most unique guys you will ever meet. It's really coming across on television now, which I think is really cool."
The key for Hardy's long-term success will be whether he can remain healthy.
Although he doesn't turn 25 until August 31, Hardy sometimes feels like he's double his age. Hardy has persistent lower back pain and bone chips in his elbow that hurt too much to wear protective pads.
Hardy became a star through his risk-taking style, but is now trying to temper his moves for his own longevity.
"At one point, it was getting crazy," Hardy said. "It was like, 'If I feel like this now, what am I going to feel like later?' Once I established myself doing crazy things and being extreme, people want to see it all the time.
"I've got to do my best to still do the gimmick. But one thing that has helped me out is that I've got several signature moves now not that are not that bad (pain-wise). As long as fans can see them and are happy, it's not that bad. It's good to establish moves that fans are always going to recognize and scream for."

Jeff in German Pro-Wrestling Mag
This piece on Jeff was done on May 1st:
Jeff Hardy was worried, because he still hasn't received any news on how Lita's neck surgery went, which took place the day before. He waited impatiently for the call from his brother Matt (which came during the show). Jeff said that the many smashes through tables, off ladders etc. have already taken a toll on his body. After some matches he felt absolutely shattered and needed some days to refresh himself. Like he honestly admitted, Matt's passion for Wrestling is bigger than his own. In general his enthusiasm is very limited at the moment. He thinks about quitting Wrestling for a while (or even forever) to spend more time on his passion, the music, and to start a career (or to try this at least). I then told him that Vampiro thinks of this also. He admitted, he has heard that as well and that he can't blame him for that. When asked if was true, that he isn't afraid of doing all these spectacular manoeuvres, he admitted that he wasn't. But he calculates everything and prepares himself as well as all the materials very well. Nevertheless it is still risky and after some matches he can feel every bone in his body ache.
